Finding a non-clinical job is an arduous process that will test your resolve. The competition is stiffer and you have to work harder to convince a potential employer why you are a good fit for the job. This is in contrast to clinical jobs where if you have the required degrees, certifications, and experience, it is clear why you are qualified.
In order to successfully transition to the non-clinical realm you are going to have to do the following:
1) Edit your CV for each and every job (or I recommend using a resume that is tailored to the job description)
2) Write a cover letter for each application you submit
3) Relentlessly search job boards and company websites for positions that you REALLY want. (Don't rapid fire apply to a bunch of jobs, be selective.)
4) Network. Network. Network. Find a human from the company you are applying to and speak with them. This could be the job poster, a recruiter you find on LinkedIn, or someone who works in a similar role you are applying for. Reach out to them on LinkedIn and set up a time to talk.
The process is going to take longer than you realize. You will have to submit more applications than you want. DON'T GIVE UP. The end result is worth the discomfort you feel in the present. In order to get that job (or take the island), you must burn the boats! The only way is forward and failure is not an option.
